Arteta: Response vs City can inspire Newcastle and PL title race comebacks

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal's win over Man City - after a frustrating draw at the Etihad earlier in the season - can inspire a Carabao Cup semi-final turnaround against Newcastle and Premier League title race comeback.
The Gunners felt there was injustice when Leandro Trossard was sent off at City in September and they were eventually pegged back at 2-2. But a 5-1 victory over Pep Guardiola's side on Sunday sparked euphoric scenes at Emirates Stadium.
Now Arteta hopes that result can give his players believe they can overcome a 2-0 deficit in their cup tie with Newcastle and a six-point gap to Liverpool, who have a game in hand, in the Premier League race.
"It's very necessary in football," Arteta told about the extra motivation his players may have felt going into the City game. "When you have that edge on you, when you have a scar whether it's a result, an individual performance or something didn't go your way, the sport brings you another opportunity. You have to use it in the right way and certainly [against Newcastle].
"More than that is the fact that Wembley is there and we want to be there."
Asked about it's impact on the title race, he added: "That's how a team grows as well. You have to go through moments like we went through a few days ago against Man City. Creating that atmosphere, that performance, that result, it brings you confidence that you can do it."
