Lyon officially announced that former AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has become the new team coach, and the two sides signed a contract until June 30, 2027.

The 51-year-old experienced coach Paulo Fonseca has established a good reputation in Europe with his many successes and strict tactical approach. After leading Porto Football Club to win the Portuguese Super Cup in 2013 and Braga Football Club to win the Portuguese Cup in 2016, the Portuguese coach had a successful period at Shakhtar Donetsk, leading the team to win three cup championship doubles (2017, 2018, 2019) and a Ukrainian Super Cup in 2017.

Subsequently, Paulo Fonseca coached Roma from 2019 to 2021, and then joined Lille Football Club in June 2022. In the two seasons coaching Lille, he built Lille into a team with an offensive and excellent playing style.

Paulo Fonseca's coaching team consists of Paulo Ferreira (assistant coach), Antonio Ferreira (goalkeeping coach), Paulo Morão (fitness coach), Nelson Duarte (video analyst), as well as Jorge Maciel and Damian Dela.

Lyon mentioned in the official announcement: Paulo Fonseca and his team's mission is to start a new cycle and lead the club to the highest level in the second half of this season and achieve the main goal of participating in the Champions League next season.

Paulo Fonseca will lead the team in his first game in Marseille this Sunday.
