Antonio "Tato" Noriega, the president of the Mexican club Monterrey, has confirmed that the side is engaged in negotiations to sign Spanish veteran defender Sergio Ramos, who is a free agent.
According to sources who have informed ESPN, a preliminary agreement has been reached in principle, with the deal only waiting for Ramos to pass a physical examination.
Earlier this month, Monterrey lost Carlos Salcedo due to an ACL injury. As a result, the club is now aiming to bolster its defensive line for the Liga MX Clausura tournament.
"He is on the list and he is a real option among other possibilities," Noriega said of the former Spain and Real Madrid captain.
