After beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 on Tuesday in the Champions League thanks to a Julián Alvarez brace, it’s now time to shift our focus back to LaLiga EA Sports. We host Villarreal in the hopes of a win in front of our passionate fans. The Rojiblancos are hoping to get back to winning ways in the league after a defeat to Leganés at the Butarque last weekend. And what better place to do so than at home, where we’ve won eight games this season and only drawn to Espanyol and Real Madrid.
Simeone’s side are chasing their seventh straight victory at home in the league after beating (3-1), Las Palmas (2-0), Alavés (2-1), Sevilla (4-3), Getafe (1-0) and Osasuna (1-0).
Villarreal look to have recovered from a poor run of form, having won two of their last five games, 4-0 against Mallorca last time out and 5-2 against Leganés at the Butarque. They fell to a 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in their most recent away outing and failed to win their two previous games at La Cerámica: 1-1 against Rayo Vallecano and a 2-1 defeat to Real Betis.
It’s certainly an interesting match-up between the current second and fifth-placed sides in LaLiga, with Saturday’s guests aiming to qualify for Europe next season.
