Manchester United have reportedly made a bizarre late move to try to hijack Julio Enciso's loan switch to Ipswich Town.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, United have made a last-minute attempt to sign Enciso as a possible Alejandro Garnacho replacement. However, it is thought the Paraguay international, who has struggled for minutes this season, will go to Ipswich as he is more likely to get regular game time there.
This comes after Garnacho's agent was spotted at Chelsea amid talks over a Stamford Bridge transfer. Napoli are also interested in the 20-year-old but it seems the Argentine favours a Blues move. The fact that United are going for a player that can't get much of a look in at Brighton may be telling.
The report adds that Atalanta, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund were also keeping tabs on Enciso but Brighton allegedly want to keep him in the Premier League as he will become a homegrown player next year after arriving in 2022.
It remains to be seen which clubs Enciso and Garnacho will be playing for when the winter transfer window shuts on February 3.
