FC Bayern have secured the signing of midfielder Tom Bischof, 19, for next season. The German youth international will move on a free transfer from TSG Hoffenheim in the summer and receive a contract through to 30 June 2029.
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director: “Tom Bischof is one of the biggest German talents, who’s also attracted international interest. At the age of just 19, he’s already gained a lot of experiences in professional football, in the Bundesliga as well as in the DFB Cup and Europa League. Tom is an ideal fit for our philosophy as a technically gifted midfielder. We’re pleased he’s decided to take his next steps at FC Bayern. Tom has all the attributes to establish himself at the highest level.”
Bischof, who was born in the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg, was already part of Hoffenheim’s prospects team at the age of six and joined the Bundesliga club’s academy when he was 10. He rose through all the youth ranks before making his Bundesliga debut in March 2022 at the age of 16 years and 263 days, making him Hoffenheim’s youngest ever player in the German top flight. He currently has 53 first-team appearances in all competitions to his name, with two goals and five assists.
Bischof’s international career started with the German U16 side, he took part in the 2022 European Championship with the U17s and earned a call-up to the U20 team last year thanks to regular outings for the U18 and U19 teams. In 2024 he won the gold Fritz Walter Medal as the country’s best talent in the U19 category.
