Brazil's all-time top goalscorer is close to completing a six-month loan to Santos as he looks to get back to the level of player he once was, long before his move to Al-Hilal didn't go to plan.
Fabrizio Romano says that Santos have made an official offer to Al-Hilal and are close to beating a host of MLS clubs to a great deal. If Neymar finalises the switch, he'll see out the remaining time on his contract with the Saudi Arabian club on loan at Santos, rejecting the chance of a reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami.
Neymar's disastrous spell in Saudi Arabia is finally coming to an end. He was part of a load of superstars that went to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023, but he's had problems with injuries and form, which has left fans and the club disappointed. Neymar is still hopeful that he can make an impact at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, so it's no surprise he's looking for a fresh start. Returning home to his boyhood club could be the start of his redemption.
Neymar burst onto the scene at Santos aged 17, with his eye-catching flair and goal scoring talents catching the eye of the world's biggest clubs. He joined Barcelona in 2013 after playing 225 games and scoring 136 goals for Santos. If Neymar does go back to Brazil, he'll be greeted like a hero.
But Neymar may well be on his way back to Santos, with Al-Hilal having already decided against registering him for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season. After those six months, it's hard to say how much football Neymar would have played and where his future lies, or if he'll get back into the Brazil squad.
