Kylian Mbappé was on fire on Sunday match against Las Palmas. He scored twice to help Real Madrid come back from behind to beat Las Palmas 4-1. This took the champions to the top of the LaLiga standings.
Real jumped ahead of Atletico Madrid, who were stunned 1-0 at lowly Leganes on Saturday, to sit top on 46 points, two ahead of their local rivals in second, with third-placed Barcelona trailing by seven points after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe.
Carlo Ancelotti's team were stunned when Las Palmas took the lead 25 seconds after kickoff, with Fabio Silva tapping in a Sandro cross from close range. But Real ramped up the pressure and Mbappe equalised from the penalty spot in the 18th minute, after Rodrygo was fouled in the box.
Brahim Diaz scored in the 33rd minute to put Real ahead, and Mbappe extended their lead three minutes later with a great first-time shot into the top corner from a cross by Rodrygo.
Before the end of the first half, the French national team's captain had a great chance to complete a hat-trick, but the goal was ruled offside and VAR cancelled it.
Rodrygo scored the fourth on a quick counter-attack in the 57th minute. This goal basically secured the victory. With Atletico Madrid losing and Barcelona drawing in this round, Real Madrid temporarily topped the league table with a 2-point advantage.
Las Palmas were down to 10 men in the 64th minute when substitute Benito Ramirez got a straight red card for a studs-up tackle on Lucas Vázquez.
