Leon Goretzka scored once in each half to help Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich beat visiting VfL Wolfsburg 3-2 on Saturday and move four points clear of champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern hit the crossbar through Leroy Sané after three minutes before Goretzka put them ahead in the 20th minute with a 22-yard shot that deflected off the post.

Wolfsburg needed just four minutes to equalise through Mohamed Amoura, but the hosts were back in front in the 39th minute when Michael Olise fired wide.

A Wolfsburg error left Harry Kane free inside the area, but his shot was blocked by defender Denis Vavro.

Joshua Kimmich thought he had done better when he found the back of the net in first-half stoppage time from Kingsley Coman's neat cross, but his effort was ruled out for a handball.

Bayern kept their foot on the gas after the break and Goretzka's header hit the post just after the hour mark to make it 3-1, but the hosts should have wrapped up the game with a string of chances.

Coman wasted the best opportunity when he took advantage of some sloppy Wolfsburg defending to burst into the box, but with only the keeper to beat, he fired wide.

Instead, it was Wolfsburg who grabbed a second in the 88th minute through Amoura after a stunning run by substitute Tiago Tomas to set up a thrilling finale.

Bayern, who travel to Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday, recorded their fourth successive league win and moved to 45 points, four clear of Leverkusen, who beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 at home. Wolfsburg are seventh on 27 points.
