One has to go back to matchday seven of the 2019-20 season to see the last time FC Barcelona managed to score against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez (kick-off 3pm ET).
Saturday’s game will be a real acid test for Hansi Flick’s men after recent slip-ups in LaLiga with the Catalan side now sitting six points behind leaders Atlético and five behind Real Madrid.
However, the German coach is boosted with a team that will see the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Marc Casadó and Alejandro Balde return to action for the Blaugrana.
At moment, there are just two principal doubts hanging over the starting XI for Barcelona with a question mark surrounding the goalkeeper. Iñaki Peña it is felt holds the advantage of starting over Wojciech Szczesny with the veteran Polish stopper getting red carded in last weekend’s Super Cup final against Madrid.
It also remains to be seen as to whom accompanies Marc Casadó and Pedri in midfield. Everything points to it being Gavi, which will see Dani Olmo rested with the former RB Leipzig man set to start in the Champions League clash against Benfica in Portugal.
Pau Cubarsí and Ronald Araújo will man the centre of the defence with Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde on the flanks. In midfield, Casadó will link-up with Pedri and Gavi. The attacking trident will return, with the ‘pichichi’ Lewandowski partnered by two of the most in-form players in European football: Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Frenkie de Jong, Olmo and Gerard Martín seem destined to start the game in Getafe from the bench.
