Diogo Jota's header in the second half earned Liverpool a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

The Premier League leaders are six points ahead at the top of the standings.Forest, who are doing really well this season, were leading in an exciting match at the City Ground. Chris Wood scored for them after eight minutes, and the atmosphere was electric.

Liverpool, who'd only lost once at home before this (to Forest in September), looked like they were heading for another shock before Jota's header from a corner made it 1-1 in the 66th minute.

Jota and Mohamed Salah had some close calls for Liverpool late on, but they just couldn't get past the impressive home goalie, Matz Sels. Instead, the draw meant that Arne Slot's team are now six points ahead of second-placed Forest, who've played a game more.

"I could not have asked for more," Slot said. "Second half was outstanding. There are not many teams that can create so many chances against an opponent so defensively strong. Unfortunately we couldn't get a second.

"It is so, so hard for every team to create here. And at times it was one chance after another. That's why it was such a disappointment to go 1-0 down. I have to be pleased with what we got."

This season, Nuno Espirito Santo's team are once again chasing the Merseysiders, coming into Tuesday's match on the back of seven wins in a row in all competitions, and not having conceded a goal in the last five.

Forest got the lead again in this game as Wood kept up his great form with his 13th league goal of the season.

The visitors had most of the ball, but they didn't do much with it. In the first half, Liverpool had 70 percent of the ball, but still couldn't score.

Forest kept their shape and the home fans were dreaming of getting close to their famous opponents, but Jota, just 22 seconds after coming on as a sub, was left unmarked to level the score.

Three superb saves from Sels kept a deserved point for Forest, who are still Liverpool's closest title rivals. But fans, who had seen their team keep the league leaders at bay for so long, will see the draw as a missed opportunity.

There will be another Premier League match this weekend. Liverpool's opponent is Brentford, who just drew with Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest's opponent is Southampton, who is at the bottom of the rankings.
