The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a busy offseason after winning the World Series in 2024. In the last week, they have signed Hye-seong Kim and traded Gavin Lux. Trading Lux could open the door to a reunion with a fan favorite.

The Dodgers had an influx of infielders after the signing of Kim. According to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers planned to use Kim in a utility role, with Lux playing second base. After trading Lux they can now play Kim as the primary second baseman. However, they can now potentially reunite with Kiké Hernández.

Hernández is a valuable piece of the Dodgers clubhouse and is a seasoned utilityman. He has made starts all over the infield and outfield in his career. Hernández had a .229/.281/.373 slash line last season. However, his second half was much better than his overall numbers. During the season Hernández learned he was dealing with astigmatism in his right eye, leading to his switch to glasses.

In the second half, he slashed .274/.304/.458 with seven home runs. In the postseason he had a .294/.357/.451 slash line with 23 total bases. He had two home runs and 15 hits as well.

Hernández would be a cheap addition to the Dodgers in 2025 and brings more to the table as a utilityman than Lux. Hernández is going into his 12th season and is a two-time World Series champion. He has a .874 career OPS in the postseason.
