With the January transfer window now open, Premier League leaders Liverpool are looking to make changes to their squad. The Reds have been on a roll this season under Arne Slot and have managed to cement their place at the top of the Premier League and Champions League table.
Slot has turned around the fortunes of the Merseyside club and his arrival has resulted in some of Liverpool's players playing the best football of their careers.
However, there are still some who have struggled for form this season. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa have struggled this season.
The Premier League giants are already monitoring their options in the market to replace Nunez at the club, while Chiesa could be allowed to leave for a move back to Italy this month.
According to TBR Football, Liverpool boss Slot is open to the idea of Chiesa leaving the club this month, and although Slot is an admirer of Chiesa, he is prepared to let the player leave the club for more playing time and better opportunities.
The Italian has been linked with a move to Serie A and, according to the report, his entourage have contacted the Merseyside club about allowing Chiesa to leave the club.
The former Juventus man is concerned about his lack of game time at Anfield, although he knows there are others ahead of him in the pecking order who cannot be dropped.
Serie A giants Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atalanta and Fiorentina are all interested in signing the Liverpool star, but only if they can afford the bulk of his wages.
The 27-year-old has struggled with fitness issues at the club and his struggle to adapt to life in England has played a large part in his failure to make the move to Anfield.
It would be better for him to get game time away from Anfield and one of the Italian clubs can easily provide that, as well as allowing the Liverpool star to return home and resume his career in a league he is familiar with.
