Fenerbahce set to make £250,000-a-week contract offer to De Bruyne to compete with Saudi Club

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne might get some new transfer interest from Turkey as his current Etihad Stadium contract comes to an end.

The Belgium international has had a rough campaign so far, dealing with an injury and illness that have cut down on the chances he's had to help Manchester City out this season.

His latest problems come after a tough 2023/24 season, even though he did really well in the second half of the season. He had a hamstring operation and came back strong, playing a key role from January onwards and helping the club win their fourth Premier League title in a row.

But even though he's clearly got a lot of quality as a player, and some skills that no one else in Pep Guardiola's team has, Man City still hasn't talked to De Bruyne about signing a new contract.

De Bruyne's current deal is due to run out in six months, and with the January transfer window now here, other teams could be interested in signing him.

According to The Times' Paul Hirst, De Bruyne is set to receive a loyalty bonus of over £3.5 million if he stays at Manchester City until the end of his current contract on 30 June.

Supporters are worried that the Belgian might be leaving, but the report says City aren't ruling out giving him a new one-year deal. He just has to prove he's fit, or he'll be leaving in the summer transfer window.

If he does leave, it's thought that the most likely next stop for the 33-year-old would be Saudi Arabia or the United States' Major League Soccer, even though Fenerbahce are offering a contract worth at least £250,000 a week after tax.

It's no surprise that a club in Saudi Arabia would offer a lot more money than the Turkish giants.

For now, there's a clear feeling of calm between Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester City, and the midfielder himself hasn't said anything about his future, insisting that talks between the two parties will simply come in time.

Speaking during his latest opportunity to conduct a press conference with the media at the end of November, De Bruyne said of his contractual position, “Questions will come, but I can only give the answers I’m giving you now because there’s nothing really more to talk about.

He continued, “Talks will come, if no talks come then it’s my last year. So I don’t know, I’m trying to be honest. People can say or write about it, I can’t affect that, I just want to play good football and we’ll see what the future holds.”
