Blue Jays could sign $119 million All-Star after whiffing on another free agent

The Toronto Blue Jays saw another potential free agent addition sign with another team. With Teoscar Hernández signing with the Dodgers, there are not many superstars left for the Blue Jays to target.

While listing moves the Blue Jays can make after they failed to add Teoscar Hernández, FanSided's Chris Landers urged the team to sign Alex Bregman.

"We know Toronto has the money based on what they were willing to spend on Soto, and there's no better use of it than convincing Bregman to come north," wrote Landers. "Bregman is basically a better, younger version of Arenado at this point, an excellent athlete and defender at third base who still has enough juice left in his bat to compliment Guerrero Jr. in the middle of Toronto's lineup. The Jays will likely have to pay him into his late 30s to convince him to sign, but that's a risk you need to take if you're all-in on competing in 2025. This team needs bats, and Bregman is one of the few impact ones left available."

Bregman and Anthony Santander are the two best bats available that the Blue Jays could target. They have not successfully convinced a superstar to sign with them this offseason. Bregman is a two-time All-Star, two-time World Series champion, Gold Glover and Silver Slugger. Spotrac projects him to sign a four-year, $119 million deal.

He has a career .272/.366/.483 slash line with 191 home runs. He could bring great play at the plate and in the field for the Blue Jays. Perhaps signing Bregman could also help their efforts to convince Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette to re-sign as well.
