The investigation into sexual assault allegations against Real Madrid's French forward Kylian Mbappé has been closed. The Associated Press reports

Mbappe, who did not participate in France national team activities in October, stayed in Stockholm, Sweden from the 9th to the 11th.

10th night of that stay. An unidentified woman has claimed that she was sexually assaulted at the Bank Hotel in Stockholm.

Mbappe also stayed at this hotel at the same time. He had been staying there since the 9th with his bodyguard, personal assistant, friend Leverkusen defender Nordi Mukiele, and Mukiele's relatives.

Some sources claim that Mbappe and his friends visited a nightclub where the aforementioned woman was located after eating at a restaurant in the city. The fact that Mbappé was at the nightclub was captured in photographs, but when news of his involvement in the incident appeared, Mbappé himself and those involved declared his innocence, calling it "fake news."

Meanwhile, the Swedish public prosecutor's office announced on the 12th that it had closed its investigation into the sexual assault case.

Lead investigator Marina Cirakova said in a statement that there was insufficient evidence to continue the investigation, which centered on the incident at a hotel in the Swedish capital.

“During the course of the investigation, a suspect was named on reasonable grounds for rape and there were two incidents of sexual assault, but in my assessment there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the investigation and therefore the investigation has ended.”

“The named persons have not been notified of any criminal charges.”

Although prosecutors did not release the suspect's name, many Swedish media outlets reported that Mbappe was the suspect in the aforementioned statement.

Mbappé's lawyer, Marie-Alix Kanu Bernard, and the player's representatives have not made any comments regarding the incident at this stage.
