Victor Osimhen believes he should have been given a penalty during Galatasaray's 2-2 draw with Eyüpspor in the Trendyol Süper Lig fixture played on Sunday at the RAMS Park.
As reported by various outlets in the Turkish press, the match was marred with a lot of controversial decisions from referee Oguzhan Çakir, one of which involved an action involving the Napoli-owned forward.
In the 21st minute of the game, Osimhen was brought down in the penalty area by Lucas Claro, which led to a protest from the Galatasaray players that a spot kick should be given, but to their dismay, Çakir ignored their call.
The Super Eagles forward had earlier missed a golden opportunity to continue his fine scoring form and couldn't get on the scoresheet in the game but recorded an assist.
Emre Akbaba gave Eyüpspor the lead before Barış Alper Yılmaz put the home side back on level terms through a rebound, and Osimhen would help them take the lead a minute after the start of the second half.
Gabriel Sara sent a cross into the box that found Osimhen’s head, but his header was mishit, falling to Roland Sallai, who slotted it into the bottom left corner.
A wonderful finish from Prince Ampem put Eyüpspor back on level terms, and the away side were able to weather the storm to return home with a point.
Speaking on his penalty incident after the game, Osimhen insisted that the referee should have pointed to the spot when he was brought down under the challenge of Claro.
In quotes relayed by haber sari kirmizi, Osimhen said: "Of course, it was a penalty."
Despite dropping two points in the game, Galatasaray still lead the standings with 35 points, six points more than Fenerbahçe and Samsunspor, but the former could close the gap with a victory over Gaziantep F. K tomorrow.
