Mavericks may acquire $68 million Serbian star to complement Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving

The Dallas Mavericks could use some scoring punch off the bench.

To help with that, a trade proposed by FanSided sends guard Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Atlanta Hawks to northern Texas.

The trade deals Quentin Grimes, Daniel Gafford, and a 2025 first-round pick to the Hawks.

The article opines that parting with Gafford could take the training wheels off of Dereck Lively II. With the second-year pro growing more accustomed to the league, Gafford could become expendable to the Mavs.

Bogdanovic is averaging just 11.6 points on 38.9% shooting in his first seven games since returning from a hamstring injury. The Serbian star helped his country win a bronze medal in the past Olympics, finishing with 16 points in their win against Germany. Bogdanovic finished the competition with the third-most total points (110), proving he can step up on the world's biggest stage.

He may have ruffled some feathers along the way, as he was seen exchanging words with Carmelo Anthony during Serbia's matchup against the United States. While the two share mutual respect, it's never a bad idea to have someone who is not afraid to get into the heads of his opponents.

The Mavs could use a guard like Bogdanovic to help take the scoring load off Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

The former Sacramento King can shoot the three-pointer at a solid clip. He can also put the ball on the floor and create his own looks, forcing the opposing defense to throw multiple bodies at him.

NBA reporter Marc Stein relayed that the Hawks were looking to trade Bogdanovic ahead of last year's trade deadline. While he stayed put, there are no assurances his stay in Atlanta could last much longer, especially if the Hawks choose to shake things up around Trae Young and Jalen Johnson.
