Super Falcons star Jennifer Echegini finally opened her Première Ligue account with a stunning display in PSG’s 6-1 win over Dijon on Saturday.
Echegini had joined PSG from Juventus after an exciting time in Italy where she won the Italian division’s best young player award after netting ten goals in only 14 appearances.
However, the Nigerian attacker had struggled in front of goal for PSG, with her only goal for the French side coming in a friendly win over Manchester City in September.
Everything changed for Echegini at the Training Center Paris Saint Germain Terrain 5 on Saturday, as she rediscovered her best form, scoring two goals and adding an assist for PSG.
Echegini got PSG’s first goal in the 10th minute and grabbed her brace in the 36th minute to make it three-nil for the home team shortly after Marie-Antoinette Katoto had doubled their advantage.
Just before the halftime break, Echegini assisted Manssita Traoré for PSG’s fourth strike to complete the Nigerian attacker’s finest half in Paris to date.
Karchaoui and Brennskag-Dorsin were also on target for PSG in the second half with their efforts sandwiching Kate Taylor’s consolation strike for Dijon.
Elsewhere at the Stade Salif Keita, Super Falcons striker Ifeoma Onumonu scored for the fourth consecutive match to power Montpellier HSC to a convincing 2-0 win against Saint-Étienne.
Both teams had barely settled into the encounter when Lola Gstalter drew first blood for Montpellier in the second minute.
Onumonu made sure of the points just before the interval, with her fifth league goal in her last four games for Montpellier.
