Liverpool’s start to life under new head coach Arne Slot could hardly have been any smoother. The Reds are top of both the Premier League and the Champions League as we head into the November international break.
Slot has managed to to do that despite injuries to players Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott. Now, Trent Alexander-Arnold becomes the latest name on the Anfield injury list.
The 26-year-old was substituted 25 minutes in Saturday’s win over Aston Villa and Liverpool have revealed that he suffered a hamstring injury. Alexander-Arnold will not feature for England this month and is a doubt for Liverpool’s fixtures against Southampton (November 24) and the high-profile visit of European champions Real Madrid (November 27).
How long is Trent Alexander-Arnold out for Liverpool?
Arne Slot has made a record-breaking start to life on Merseyside and Alexander-Arnold has been a key part of his team. The Englishman has been named in the starting XI for all 15 Premier League and Champions League games so far this season.
ESPN reports that the hamstring injury will likely see him sidelined for two weeks, meaning that a return for the Real Madrid game is not impossible. However with Liverpool top of the Champions League standings, Slot may opt to give him extra time to prepare for three crucial Premier League fixtures.
At the start of next month Liverpool have a run of three games in a week that could prove decisive. They host reigning champions Manchester City (December 1) before trips to Newcastle United (December 4) and local rivals Everton (December 7).
If Liverpool can pick up the maximum nine points from those games they will be firmly in the driving seat for the 2024/25 Premier League title.
