Asked whether the players wanted Ruud Van Nistelrooy to stay on in some capacity, Andre Onana told TNT Sports: “100 per cent. He’s a really good guy, a very good coach.

“Since he’s been here he’s helped us a lot. He’s got so much experience and he’s doing amazing since he was here.

“We’ve had him a few days as head coach and it’s different but it’s fantastic what he’s doing.

“The players are happy but at the end of the day it’s not something we can decide because the club make the decisions and we have to accept it. This has to be between him and the club.

“At the end of the day they have to do what is best for the club.”
