Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

Match preview

Since losing three Premier League games in a row against Everton, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace have gone on a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions, picking up four points in their last two top-flight fixtures.

The Eagles got their first Premier League win of the season when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at home just under a fortnight ago. They also beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the last 16 of the EFL Cup before drawing 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux last weekend.

Trevoh Chalobah and captain Marc Guehi both scored for Oliver Glasner's side, who are currently 17th in the Premier League table and just two points above the relegation zone after 10 matches.

After beating Spurs at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace are now aiming to win two London derbies in a row in the top flight for the first time since April 2017, when they beat Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, it won't be easy for the Eagles on Saturday. They've lost their last five Premier League meetings with Fulham, drawing four of those games, including each of their last three.

It looked like Fulham were on course to go four games without a win as they went into stoppage time of Monday night's West London derby with Brentford 1-0 down, thanks to a long-range rocket from Vitaly Yanelt.

However, the Cottagers kept at it and their persistence paid off. They had super-sub Harry Wilson to thank for securing a dramatic 2-1 victory. Indeed, the Welsh winger came on in the 82nd minute and scored in the 92nd and 97th minutes, with Fulham's 25th and 26th shots on goal, which led to some pretty wild scenes at Craven Cottage.

Marco Silva praised the determination of his Fulham players after the match, saying their never-say-die attitude was 'rewarded' with three 'deserved' points. The win helped the Cottagers climb back into the top half of the table and up to ninth spot, just three points behind the top four.

So far this season, Fulham have picked up 15 points from their opening 10 top-flight fixtures. However, only five of those have been collected on the road. Just four of their 14 away league games in 2024 have ended in a win, with the 1-0 result against Nottingham Forest in September being one of them.

The Cottagers are confident they can get a positive result against Crystal Palace this weekend. They've accumulated five points from their last three visits to Selhurst Park and have kept three clean sheets in the process.

Team News

Crystal Palace will be without Eberechi Eze, Jefferson Lerma, Chris Richards (all hamstring), Adam Wharton (groin), Chadi Riad (knee) and Matheus Franca (groin) due to injury.

Eddie Nketiah is thought to have picked up a minor hamstring issue and could be a doubt for the match, while Joel Ward might be ready to return to the squad after a spell out with an unspecified problem.

Cheick Doucouré could be fit to start his first league game since mid-September in midfield, which could mean Daichi Kamada is pushed further forward to link up with Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta in attack.

Fulham's only injury concern is with midfielder Sasa Lukic, who is still recovering from a shoulder injury and hoping to be back in action after the international break.

Timothy Castagne is back from his hamstring problem and played as a substitute against Brentford. He'll be competing with Kenny Tete for a spot on the right side of defence.

Wilson is hoping to force his way into the starting XI after his performance off the bench on Monday. However, Silva may decide to stick with Reiss Nelson, who impressed in his first league start since joining on loan from Arsenal, and Alex Iwobi on the flanks.
