It's been a long wait for Inter fans, but it looks like their relief is well-founded. On Sunday night, on the 11th day of Serie A, Inter beat Venezia with some difficulty (1-0). For a while, it looked like their impracticality would be punished.

In the first half, both teams had plenty of chances, with Inter just edging it, but neither could change the score. In the 28th minute, Marcus Thuram's shot was blocked by the defender in the penalty area, and in the 33rd minute, his shot hit the side net. Meanwhile, Venezia's Oristano's shot in front of the goal after receiving a cross was saved by Sommer in front of the goal, and the game entered the second half with 0-0.

In the 51st minute, Mkhitaryan made a great interception right in front of the goal, but the ref called it offside first and the goal was disallowed. Immediately, Venezia's Pohjanpallo took a push shot in the middle, which was saved by Sommer again. Lautaro, Mkhitaryan and Dumfries all had shots on goal, but they couldn't get one past Stankovic.

The change came in the 65th minute, when Dimarco's cross from the left side was perfectly placed to find Lautaro, who was in the right spot to tap it in. The Inter Milan captain didn't hesitate to head the ball into the goal.

In the next few games, Inter Milan's attack became more and more intense, and Stankovic dealt with the scoring opportunities of Marcus Thuram, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Medhi Taremi. As the game was coming to a close, Venice thought they could equalise with Svirko and get the best goal of the weekend, but their goal was disallowed due to handball (90+8).

This tough 1-0 result sees Inter Milan climb to second place in Serie A. With Napoli, the current leaders, losing 0-3 to Atalanta earlier in the season, Inter Milan are now just one point away from the top of the table. Next, they'll be up against Arsenal in the Champions League. Arsenal just lost to Newcastle United in the league.
