Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher’s son James has extended his contract with Sky Bet League One club Wigan until 2027.
Carragher junior, 21, has established himself in the Latics’ first team this season, making 13 appearances in all competitions.
The club said: “We are pleased to announce that James Carragher has extended his contract with Wigan Athletic.
“Carragher has penned extended terms at the Brick Community Stadium until at least the summer of 2027, with the new contract signifying his outstanding start to the 2024-25 Sky Bet League One campaign.”
Carragher joined Wigan from Liverpool’s academy aged 14 and has had loan spells at Oldham and Inverness.
Latics boss Shaun Maloney added: “I’ve been really pleased with James’ development and he is fully deserving of his contract extension.
“It’s been a brilliant breakthrough season for him so far and James is a young player with fantastic potential.”
