Jose Mourinho gave a vintage post-match interview after his Fenerbahce side held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in the Europa League.

The Fenerbahce manager had turned on the charm before Thursday's match against his former club and took centre stage during the game as well as after it. The Portuguese was sent off for lashing out at Clement Turpin after the French referee waved away appeals for a penalty against Manuel Ugarte. He let rip at the official in his post-match interview while also insisting his side had deserved to win the game.

Mourinho told TNT Sports: "He [Turpin] told me something incredible, he said at the same time he could see the action in the box and my behaviour on the touchline. I congratulate him because he's absolutely incredible, he has peripheral vision, at 100 miles per hour he had one eye on the penalty situation and one eye on my behaviour, that's why he's one of the best in the world. I watched the incident [again], I have nothing to say."

It was another disappointing evening in Europe for United, who were left 21st in the Europa League table after taking just three points from their three games. But Mourinho claimed that the Red Devils should be pleased that they were able to draw with his side. He said: "No, they got a point against us, not us against them. We played amazing, if they [Fenerbahce] play like this in the Turkish league we will destroy everything, we played a team at a superior level than us, of course the Premier League has more quality, more intensity, more pace, more everything, and my boys did an amazing match. We had to do a crazy puzzle, our performance was extraordinary, I couldn't ask for any more from my players. I think we had a phenomenal performance."

Mourinho was left dumbstruck by Andre Onana's world-beating double save from Youssef En-Nesyri and he heaped praise on the United goalkeeper during his interview. "He saved the result, my goalkeeper didn't make a save, he made two impossible saves in 10 seconds, he's the most decisive player in the result," Mourinho added.

Fenerbahce are 14th in the standings after the draw, which takes them on to five points. Mourinho will now turn his attention to Sunday's Turkish Super Lig fixture at home to Bodrum as his side look to chase down leaders Galatasaray, who already have an eight-point lead over their fierce rivals. United will look to follow up their recent win over Brentford by beating struggling West Ham.
