Erling Haaland sent Manchester City fans into a frenzy after scoring an outrageous flying back-heel Champions League goal against Sparta Prague.
City started the match strong, with Phil Foden finding the back of the net early in the first half to give his side a crucial lead. However, it was Haaland’s spectacular goal after half-time that stole the show in a 5-0 rout of the Czech side. Displaying his remarkable athleticism and footballing instincts, Haaland leapt into the air with his back facing the goal, executing a flying back-heel of a Savinho cross that left both defenders and spectators stunned.
A City fan, @Priceless_MCI, wrote: "HAALAND ARE TOU F*CKING MAD WHAT A GOAL IS THAT!!! WOW."
Whereas, @ewan10i, added: "Haaland, that’s one of the most ridiculous finishes I’ve seen in my life."
@DxBruyneSZN could hardly believe his eyes and wrote: "ERLING HAALAND ARE YOU MAD AN ACROBATIC GOALLLLL HE IS INSANEEEEE".
An Arsenal fan, @Rory_Talks_Ball, couldn't help but admire as well and wrote: "Pretty mad finish from Haaland that".
Meanwhile, @JamesVI58047415, took a dig at Haaland's haters and wrote: "But he only scores tap ins."
With that remarkable strike, Haaland hit a personal milestone, reaching 20 Champions League goals for City - the second fastest to achieve that milestone with one club. Ruud van Nistelrooy holds the record, who achieved the same feat in just 21 games during his time at Manchester United. The Norwegian striker added another 10 minutes later to take his overall tally to 44 goals in 42 games and is currently 14th in the all-time list of Champions League top scorers, leapfrogging Neymar and Alessandro Del Piero.
As City continue their European campaign, Haaland’s ability to deliver on the big stage could be the key to further success. However, Pep Guardiola will now shift his focus back to the Premier League with a fixture against Southampton next on Saturday.
