AC Milan vs Brugge

Match preview

Milan had a rough start to their continental campaign under Paulo Fonseca, losing 3-1 to Liverpool at San Siro. They then had another setback last time out.

Milan were beaten 1-0 by Leverkusen. Victor Boniface scored in the second half to give the Germans the win, leaving Fonseca's side without a result again.

Milan have only won nine of their last 33 games at Europe's elite level. If they lose this week, it'll be the second time they've lost their first three Champions League matches.

Fonseca has only won one of his last nine games in the UEFA Champions League with different clubs. He needs another win on Tuesday evening, especially given a mixed start to his time at San Siro.

After the international break, Milan beat Udinese 1-0 on Sunday. It was their fifth win in 19 games, thanks to Samu Chukwueze's early goal. They played for over an hour with 10 men after Tijjani Reijnders was sent off.

Thanks to their impressive performance, the Rossoneri have remained undefeated in their last four home games in Serie A this season, winning each of their last three without conceding a goal.

After their 1-0 win against Sturm Graz at the start of October, Club Brugge can head to Italy's second city with a similarly impressive away record over the past year, especially in the Champions League.

The Belgian side have not lost any of their last four away games in the group or league – and they didn't concede a single goal – while two previous visits to Milan also brought clean sheets.

After a goalless draw in the 1990 European Cup, the Blauw-Zwart enjoyed a memorable 1-0 Champions League win at San Siro 21 years ago. They'll be hoping to replicate that result in midweek.

After losing their opening game of the season to last year's runners-up Borussia Dortmund, Nicky Hayen's team bounced back by winning in Austria thanks to a great first-half goal from Christos Tzolis. This has given them a boost of confidence that they can make the playoffs.

Most recently, Club Brugge moved up to fourth place in the Pro League standings after Saturday's 2-1 league win over Westerlo, four points behind early leaders Genk.

The Belgian champions have a busy week ahead. After facing Milan, they must return home for a high-profile clash with old rivals Anderlecht at Jan Breydel Stadium.
