Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return to practice on Wednesday, with the goal of starting in Week 8. If all goes well, he could be back in action against the Cardinals.

Diana Russini at The Athletic reports that Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told players Tagovailoa will be able to practice on Wednesday and that the quarterback plans to take part. Assuming there are no hiccups, Tagovailoa should be good to go for the 27th of October.

McDaniel said this week, "I know he's not playing this week." "I do expect to see him back on the field in 2024, but we'll have to wait and see where that is exactly."

Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion in two years in the Dolphins' Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. His latest brain injury has led to calls for him to consider retiring to protect his health. But after talking it over with some independent neurologists, he's decided he's not going to retire.

The Dolphins offense has been struggling without Tagovailoa, going 0-3 since the 26-year-old quarterback was injured. Tyler Huntley, who the Dolphins picked up after putting Tagovailoa on injured reserve, hasn't had much luck in his last two games. He's thrown for 290 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.

The Dolphins' offense has had a tough time since Tagovailoa left the lineup. Since Week 2, Miami has averaged only 10 points per game, and their top two wide receivers — Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle — haven't eclipsed 70 receiving yards since both recorded over 100 yards in Week 1.

The 2-3 Dolphins are back in action after their bye week, taking on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
