Manchester United beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday, easing the pressure on beleaguered manager Erik ten Hag.

However, the 54-year-old is widely believed to be fighting for his job as Manchester United have made their worst start to a top-flight season since 1989-90.

Erik ten Hag's side looked disorganised in the opening minutes and struggled to organise their attack. The first half was also lacking in excitement. We know that Brentford like to start well, but Manchester United did not allow their opponents to do so.

After the chaos of the opening exchanges, Manchester United began to find their feet. Both sides attacked and defended, but there was no goal in sight. Christian Norgaard and Ganacho came close to changing the scoreline.

Just before the four-minute stoppage time was announced, the referee noticed that De Ligt's head was bleeding. The Dutch defender was sent off and Manchester United were once again without a man. Ten Hag will have to think carefully about how to deal with this player.

Although De Ligt returned to the pitch, he started bleeding again at the end of the half and left the field. That's when disaster struck as Brentford's Ethan Pinnock headed the ball into the net from a corner. It was Dalot's inattention that allowed Pinnock to get to the ball first.

There were boos all round and the United fans were clearly frustrated by the goal, especially when the referee sent off one of their central defenders.

As United took the field for the second half, De Ligt rejoined his teammates, clearly intent on seeing the game out.

United made their intentions clear from the kick-off. Rashford's magical cross found Ghanacho, who unleashed a stunning volley past the goalkeeper and into the far corner. At 1-1, United looked to have come out of the break rejuvenated.

Rasmus Hojlund scored the decisive second goal in the 62nd minute, Bruno Fernandes lobbing a shot over the head of Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flecken.

It was United's first win in six games in all competitions and only their third in eight Premier League games this season.They now sit 10th in the table ahead of an action-packed week that includes a trip to Mourinho's Fenerbahce in the Europa League and a visit to West Ham United.
