Manchester United are set to compete with Real Madrid to secure the signature of Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.
The Canadian full-back has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since last season, however, Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg now reports that United could join the race as they look to bring in Davies for free next summer.
The 23-year-old's current contract with Vincent Kompany's side expires at the end of the 2024-25 campaign and he is yet to negotiate a new deal with Bayern. The report also adds that while United are exploring their options to rope in the talented defender, they do not consider themselves favourites in winning the transfer race as Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign him.
With Luke Shaw yet to return to action for the club after another injury setback, the Red Devils are now considering replacing the England international and as a result, are looking to sign Davies, who has been a lethal operator from the left side of defence for Bayern.
For now, the Canada international remains committed to his current club and will be next seen in action for Bayern when they take on Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
