Peterborough United is temporarily ranked 14th in League One, and Rotherham United is temporarily ranked 17th. Peterborough United defeated Rotherham United in January 2020.
Last weekend, the Posh recorded a narrow 2-1 league victory over Stevenage thanks to Donay O'Brien-Brady's early opener and Kwame Poku's stoppage-time winner.
A much-changed Peterborough side went on to claim another victory against Stevenage in Tuesday's EFL Trophy clash, with Malik Mothersille and Jordan Sparkes finding the net in a 2-0 home victory.
The Posh are now set to turn their focus back to league action as they look to claim a result that will move them up the standings from 14th position.
Peterborough may have emerged victories from their most recent league outing, but they have only won two of their previous seven matches in the third tier.
However, they can take confidence from the fact they have won their last two home matches against Rotherham, including a narrow 2-1 victory in their most recent meeting in January 2020.
After dropping down from the Championship, Rotherham made an underwhelming start to the League One season, with their opening eight league games producing one win, four draws and one defeat.
However, Steve Evans's side are now starting to build momentum after winning their first two league matches of October.
The Millers left it late to record a 1-0 away win over Cambridge United, before they came from behind to beat Reading 2-1 following goals from Sam Nombe and Hakeem Odoffin.
Rotherham then carried their new-found form into the EFL Trophy, with a Jordan Hugill brace and a Detlef Esapa Osong effort proving enough to condemn Newcastle Under-21s to a 3-1 defeat.
Evans will now be looking to get one over his former club as Rotherham bids to clinch consecutive away wins in the same season for the first time since February 2022.
The visitors are also looking to win an away game against Peterborough for the first time since March 2014 when Evans was in his first spell as Rotherham boss.
Peterborough midfielder Hector Kyprianou is expected to be out until December after he sustained a hamstring injury in a defeat to Wigan earlier this month.
Kyprianou is joined on the sidelines by Jadel Katongo, Chris Conn-Clarke, Mahamadou Susoho and Bradley Ihionvien.
Archie Collins is set to serve a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the league season last weekend.
As for the visitors, defender Sean Raggett and midfielder Liam Kelly are both closing in on a return to action and could prove their fitness in time to feature in Saturday's matchday squad.
After making wholesale changes in midweek, Evans may decide to revert to the team that started the 2-1 win over Reading last weekend.
Former Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris is set to lead the line against his former club, with the 30-year-old looking to add to the three goals he has scored this season.
Peterborough United possible starting lineup:
Steer; Dornelly, Fernandez, Wallin, Sparkes; O'Brien-Brady, De Haviland; Poku, Hayes, Mothersille; Jones
Rotherham United possible starting lineup:
Dawson; Rafferty, Humphreys, McCart, James; Tiehi, Odoffin, Powell; Milks, Nombe, Clarke-Harris
