Gabon bounced back from a 4-1 defeat to Morocco in the opening game of their AFCON qualifying series with a 2-0 win over Central African Republic in their second match a few days later.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted his second penalty in as many AFCON qualifiers to give the Panthers the lead and Shavy Babicka doubled their advantage in the 40th minute to seal the win.

Gabon climbed to second place in Group B with three points from a possible six, level on points with Central African Republic, who trail on head-to-head record.

The hosts will be looking for the first of two successive wins against Lesotho, a side they have never lost to, winning three and drawing one of their four meetings.

All the meetings between the two sides have been in qualifiers - two each for the World Cup and the AFCON - and the Panthers have won on both occasions.

Lesotho kicked off their AFCON qualifying campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Central African Republic in the first round of qualifying and were forced to respond in their second game against Morocco.

Playing on Moroccan soil due to the lack of an international-standard stadium at home, the Southern Africans conceded a late goal in the 93rd minute to lose 1-0.

Leslie Notsi's side currently sit bottom of the group and will be hoping to pick up their first points when they travel to Gabon on Friday, having gone six games without a win, including a disappointing campaign at the COSAFA Cup in July.

The visitors secured a 2-0 away win over Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier in June, a performance and result they will be hoping to replicate against Gabon on Friday.

A front three of Aubameyang, Babicka and Denis Bouanga will lead the line for Gabon, with Aubameyang hoping to make it three games in a row with a goal.

The midfield trio of Eric Bocoum, Guelor Kanga and Medwin Biteghe started their last game and will be hoping to retain their places in the starting line-up.

Lesotho, meanwhile, have added five new players to their 31-man provisional squad, including 19-year-old Paseka Maile, who made his senior debut at the COSAFA Cup earlier this year.

Sera Motebang, who scored the Crocodiles' only goal in AFCON qualifying so far, is expected to lead the attack again.
