Kai Havertz has a chance to set a new record for Arsenal when they play Shakhtar Donetsk after scoring against Southampton last Saturday.

When Kai Havertz scored Arsenal's first goal against Southampton on Saturday, the team was rightfully focused on scoring another and securing all three points.

The Gunners were behind at the start of the game, so they didn't get a chance to enjoy Havertz's amazing goal in the 1-1 draw.

However, the goal deserves recognition not just for itself, but also for the context in which it was scored.

Not only did Havertz's latest goal get Arsenal back into the game, but he also tied the all-time record of scoring in seven consecutive games at the Emirates Stadium. Robin van Persie set the record back in the 2011/12 season, scoring in seven consecutive games at the Emirates Stadium. Havertz has now matched the record:

May 19 – Goal vs Everton (Premier League)

August 17 – Goal and assist vs Wolves (Premier League)

August 31 – Goal vs Brighton (Premier League)

September 25 – Goal vs Bolton Wanderers (League Cup)

September 28 – Goal vs Leicester City (Premier League)

October 1 – Goal vs Paris Saint-Germain (Champions League)

October 5 – Goal vs Southampton (Premier League)

The former Chelsea player is on great form at home to his new club and his goals are now almost inevitable. When he first started playing in Germany, the German star was still a midfielder, impressing in the Bundesliga and joining Chelsea at a high price. His winning goal in the Champions League final helped the Blues win the long-awaited Champions League title. But as he kept on getting taller, the midfielder had to change position to become a centre forward.

When he arrived at Arsenal, he had a bit of a rough time adjusting at first, but coach Arteta and captain Ödegaard were there for him every step of the way. The German, who grew more and more confident last season, finished his first full season with 14 goals and 7 assists. The German was back to his best at the start of this season, playing almost 90 minutes in every game. He's already helped the team score six goals and provide one assist in ten games, keeping Arsenal at the top of the standings and on the attack for the third year running.

Havertz is now in a position to set a new record in Arsenal's upcoming games. The next game is against Shakhtar Donetsk, which will be at the Emirates Stadium on 22 October.

If the German international doesn't play in that game, he'll have the chance to break the record in the weekend game against Liverpool on 27 October.
