Lois Openda's second-half goal gave RB Leipzig a narrow 1-0 win over Heidenheim in the Bundesliga at the Voith Arena.

The two teams' recent records vary. Leipzig is undefeated in 16 games but had just lost 3-2 to Juventus. Heidenheim had a good performance to win in European competition for the first time. The game started slowly, with neither side creating many chances early on. There were numerous fouls, disrupting the rhythm of the game. Leipzig still had threats in the counterattack, and Oponda's shot hit the post in the 88th minute.
