Villarreal vs Las Palmas
Match preview
Villarreal have had a pretty good season so far, with four wins, two draws and one defeat in their seven matches. That's got them in fifth spot in the table, level on points with fourth-placed Mallorca.
The Yellow Submarine have been pretty impressive this season, with their only defeat coming at home to Barcelona. It was a big one, though, with them losing 5-1 to the division leaders on 22 September.
Marcelino's team bounced back on Thursday evening, though, with a 2-1 win over Espanyol. Ayoze Pérez scored twice for the visitors after Jofre Carreras scored the first goal.
Perez has been excellent for Villarreal this season, scoring six times in seven appearances. With Villarreal finishing eighth last season, they'll be looking to push for the top six this term.
The Yellow Submarine actually lost both matches against Las Palmas during the 2023-24 season, including a 2-1 defeat in the corresponding match. They'll be looking for revenge on Monday night.
Las Palmas finished 16th in La Liga last season on their return to the top flight, so it was a successful campaign overall. However, it has been a tough start to the 2024-25 season.
Indeed, Luis Carrion's side have only picked up three points from their opening seven matches, with a record of three wins and four defeats, and they are bottom of the division.
It's still early days, but Las Palmas need to start picking up points soon. If they don't, the gap between them and the teams above them will start to grow.
Los Amarillos lost three games in a row to Alavés, Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna between 1 September and 21 September. However, they did manage to draw with Real Betis 1-1 on Thursday night.
As we said, Las Palmas also beat Villarreal twice in the league last season. They've won three of their last five games against Villarreal in the top flight.
