Betis vs Espanyol
Match preview
Real Betis have won two, drawn three and lost two of their seven La Liga matches this season, picking up nine points in the process. That puts them in 11th spot in the table ahead of the next set of fixtures.
Manuel Pellegrini's team won two matches back-to-back against Leganés and Getafe straight after the international break. They then lost 2-1 to Mallorca and drew 1-1 with Las Palmas.
Next week, the Green and Whites will kick off their Conference League campaign against Legia Warsaw. They're hoping to make a big impression in the European competition this season.
Real Betis beat them 3-1 last time they played in April 2023, and they've only lost one of their last nine games against the Catalan team in the top flight.
The Seville team finished seventh in Spain's top flight last season, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see them in a similar spot this term, depending on how well they balance European commitments.
Meanwhile, Espanyol are back in the top flight after winning the Segunda División playoffs, and they're aiming to consolidate their position in La Liga once again.
The Catalan team has a record of two wins, one draw and four losses from their seven league games this season. They've collected seven points and sit in 14th place in the table.
Manolo González's side had a rough start to the season, losing back-to-back games to Real Valladolid and Real Sociedad. But they bounced back with three straight wins, drawing 0-0 with Atlético Madrid and then beating Rayo Vallecano and Alavés.
Espanyol have lost their last two league games, conceding six times in the process, with both losses coming against Real Madrid and Villarreal.
The Catalan team beat Real Betis at home during the 2022-23 La Liga campaign, but they haven't managed to overcome Sunday's opponents away from home since October 2016.
