During Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester City, Trossard received a second yellow card on the stroke of halftime for kicking the ball away, identical to Declan Rice's dismissal against Brighton earlier this month. In his post-match interview, Arteta made reference to Oliver's inconsistent decision-making when City's Jeremy Doku attempted to stall play by kicking the ball away but was not booked.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: "Managers are coming out every week saying every decision is against them. Just come out and accept it.
"Deep down he'll be satisfied with a point. Show a bit of class, manager of Arsenal. He probably deserved the red card, we reacted well and we move on. That's the end of it. Take your medicine and move on. Show a bit of class.
"But from the Arsenal point of view, I think they'd be OK with it, because he’s obviously passionate and you're not in this job to be liked! He's there to win football matches for Arsenal and that’s what he’s doing.
"Listen, he's got the yellow card, he has to take his medicine, but I generally have no problem with it. We see other managers doing stuff that we might not always agree with but they're emotional, they’re passionate and I think that's just because he wants to win. I wouldn’t be too harsh on him."
After an early goal by Erling Haaland, goals from defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel put Arsenal ahead 2-1 at the break, but Trossard's red card shifted the tide of play. After the break, Arteta sent his team out in an extremely defensive formation in an attempt to hold onto their lead. But John Stones' equaliser in the 98th minute kept City atop the table and infuriated Arteta.
The Gunners will have an easier time out next up when they take on League One side Bolton on Wednesday, September 25 in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
