PREVIOUS MEETING

Our most recent encounter with Brentford came in February where we won 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium en route to the 2023/24 Premier League title.

Erling Haaland’s 71st minute shot marked the only goal of the match before full-time, handing City our 17th league win at that point in the term.

LAST TIME OUT

Erling Haaland maintained his impeccable start to the season securing his 11th hat-trick for City - helping us to a 3-1 victory against West Ham United last time out.

Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead only 10 minutes into the match which was soon followed by a Ruben Dias own goal to draw the hosts level.

The Norwegian soon struck again in the 30th minute, quickly restoring our lead before finishing it off by firing home once more before the final whistle, representing an impressive 24th career hat-trick.

So far, so good for Pep Guardiola in the international break.

All the Manchester City boss asks is that his players return free from injury. He would prefer they didn't play at all, but accepts the honour of playing for your country. Even some potentially provocative comments from Spain manager Luis de la Fuente won't bother him too much.

Guardiola saw two of his players withdraw from international duty having missed the win at West Ham - Phil Foden still suffering from illness and Savinho a surprise omission with a minor setback.

Savinho subsequently withdrew from the Brazil squad, with City and Pep Guardiola hopeful he could return after the international break. Now, the winger has posted a social media update offering progress on his recovery.

His update showed him in his personal gym in his flat in Manchester, appearing to suggest he is on track with Guardiola's initial diagnosis. As City return to training this week, they will hope for Savinho to be available.

Meanwhile, Rodri made his first appearance of the season in Spain's Nations League win over Manu Akanji's Switzerland. De la Fuente had suggested he will pay City's plan for Rodri no mind after the midfielder had been carefully managed at the start of the season, and stuck to his word by starting the midfielder in Geneva.
