The 22-year-old forward has embraced a new challenge in France after bidding farewell to Manchester United. Having starred on loan at Getafe last season, the one-cap England international bid farewell to Old Trafford when completing a £27 million ($35m) transfer to Ligue 1 heavyweights.
Early opposition to his arrival was expressed by certain sections of Marseille’s fan base, but Greenwood is in the process of winning them over. After opening his goal account in friendly dates, he has made a dream start to competitive action in France.
Greenwood has been on target in all three of his Ligue 1 appearances so far, with two efforts recorded in the space of a minute last time out against Toulouse. He has posted on Instagram of taking no time in which to find peak form: “2 goals, 3 points, Big win on the road, let’s keep the momentum going!”
Greenwood can now rest and recharge during the international break, as he reportedly mulls over an allegiance switch to Jamaica, with Marseille not due to be back in action until playing host to Nice on September 14.
