The start of the new season has been successful for FC Bayern, but the record champion had to tremble at the 3:2 in Wolfsburg. The FCB went into the lead, but they lost afterwards and finally proved comeback qualities.

Wolfsburg's coach Ralph Hasenhüttl had to do without defence head Lacroix (foot shot) after the laborious 1:0 cup victory in Koblenz, and also left Gerhardt and wind on the bench. New here: Fischer, Arnold and Tiago Tomas.

Vincent Kompany brought four news on his Bundesliga debut as FCB coach: Guerreiro, Tel and Müller, who had started at the 4:0 in the cup in Ulm, made room for Davies, new summer entry Olise and Kane. For the injured Stanisic, Boey moved to the right defender position.

Kompany expected a "competitive and physical" game against the Wolfsburg residents and demanded dominance from his team at DAZN. "If we don't have the ball, we want to recover it aggressively and quickly and if we have it, we need to know how we get out of possession of the ball quickly."

High pressing, speed and train to the gate were therefore promised - and that is exactly what the Munich residents showed. From the kick-off, the FCB came too much more possession of the ball and soon looked at promising opportunities. At first, however, VfL-Keeper Grabara stood in the way, the pole was partly strongly parried against Gnabry (9th), Kane (11th) and Kimmich (13.).

After 20 minutes, however, it happened: the agile Boey was sent steeply via Olise and Kane, the Frenchman made Kaminski look bad, penetrated to the baseline and served the free-standing musiala in the five - 1:0.

Focus on referee Siebert

The leadership was absolutely deserved. And even after that, the Bayern stayed at the push, acted in a game that became more and more shattered, but no longer quite so consistent. This was also due to the wolves, who were gallous in the duels and also benefited from a loose leash of the impartial Daniel Siebert. This was especially true for Arnold, who fell to the English during a duel with Kane and then hit him by foot. The VfL captain was very lucky that he came away, Siebert could have given red, if not (28).

In the 31. Minute was then the focus of referee again when Kaminski stopped an Olise headball in his own sixteenth hand. The pole's arm posture in this scene was of course, but the arm was also far spread. To the regret of the Bavarians, this was obviously not sufficient for Siebert to give punishment. Consequently, it remained at the 1-0 break, also because Gnabry initially failed at Grabara (37.) and somewhat later also clearly tarried (42.).

Spectacular start in half two

Directly after re-starting, there was penalty kick: At Baku's vertical pass on the crossing Tiago Tomas, Davies picked up the offside, before Boey also fouled the Portuguese somewhat awkward. The due penalty came to Majer surely transformed the left corner (47th). It was the prelude to a spectacular phase in which Grabara first parried against Gnabry (50.) and then witnessed how Majer first hit only the post (51.) and then marked the 2:1 (55th) after a coarse blunder of Kim and the original of Wimmer. With a strong parade against musicala, the Polish closing man then also prevented the quick balance of the Munich residents (57th).

The Bavarias increased the number of strikes and pushed for the balance. He then fell only seconds after Müller had switched on and had since become the sole record player of FCB with 474 Bundesliga games. Müller did not have much to do with the hit, but rather was an unfortunate own goal of Kaminski after a corner (65th).

Rekordmann Müller is the starting point of 3:2

Until the end, it remained a brisk duel that should not be a draw: First, the substituted Behrens slightly (73.), then double packer had to go out under the right eye because of a violet and strong swelling under the right eye (77), before Kaminski prevented sickly against Kanelimmer (80.). Two minutes later, however, it was happening: Müller strongly held himself against Zesiger on the ball in the center and continued to lead to Kane. He shook Kaminski and sent Gnabry steeply. This in turn thanked him, completed from six metres from the right to the long corner at the 3:2 final level and thus ensured a successful Bundesliga debut of coach Kompany.

In a week, VfL Wolfsburg will continue on Saturday (3.30 p.m.) at Bundesliga climb Holstein Kiel, the people of Munich welcome SC Freiburg (5:30 a.m.) on the following day.
