Inter kept their Serie A dream alive with a confident 2-0 win in Turin on a rain-soaked Sunday, showing no signs of letting up in the title race.
There are two rounds of Serie A left to play, and Napoli's lead was reduced to just one point after they drew with Genoa later on Sunday.
Inter, who reached the Champions League final by beating Barcelona in a thrilling encounter on Tuesday, left several key players on the bench and rested others to keep their squad fresh for the final stretch of the season.
Striker and captain Lautaro Martínez, goalkeeper Yann Sommer and midfielder Davide Frattesi were all left out of the starting line-up ahead of a Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain later this month.
Inter took the lead on 14 minutes when Nicola Zalewski made a neat turn and lost his marker before cutting inside to the edge of the box and slotting the ball home.
In first-half stoppage time, Torino came close to equalising through a diving header from Ché Adams, but Inter goalkeeper Josep Martínez produced an incredible one-handed save on the line.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms interrupted the game, forcing an abandonment of the first half and delaying the start of the second as referee Federico La Penna inspected the pitch during the break.
In the 49th minute, as the rain poured down, Inter were awarded a penalty after Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic fouled Mehdi Taremi. Kristjan Asllani scored from the spot to double the visitors' lead and seal the game.
As the heavy rain began to ease, Inter began to push forward with more intensity and only a series of fine saves from Milinkovic-Savic prevented the visitors from adding a third.
Adam Masina found the net for Torino with a spectacular overhead kick deep into stoppage time, but the goal was disallowed after he had pushed Asllani out of the way to make way for the effort.
